Terms of Service
The agreement between you and SENTINEL·IEP.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By installing, accessing, or using SENTINEL·IEP ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service is
SENTINEL·IEP is an informational software tool designed to help parents and advocates prepare for and participate in special education meetings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Service uses artificial intelligence to summarize documents, flag statements, and produce informational reports.
3. NOT LEGAL ADVICE
The Service does not provide legal advice. No output of the Service, no statement by SENTINEL·IEP or its operator, and no interaction with the software creates an attorney–client relationship between you and SENTINEL·IEP, its operator, or any affiliated person.
You acknowledge that special-education law is complex, varies by state, and requires the judgment of a licensed attorney. You agree to consult a licensed attorney before taking any action with legal consequences. See our full Disclaimer.
4. Your account and subscription
[PLACEHOLDER — to be drafted by attorney. This section will cover: account creation, accurate registration information, account security, subscription terms by tier, cancellation policy, refund policy, and account termination.]
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not:
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law, including recording-consent laws in your state;
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any individual, including district staff;
- Distribute the Service's output as your own work product if you are a licensed professional;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the Service's source code beyond what is permitted by law;
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service without written permission.
6. Recording consent
The Service can capture audio of meetings. Recording-consent laws vary by state and you are SOLELY responsible for compliance with your state's laws. The Service requires you to acknowledge this responsibility before any audio capture begins. SENTINEL·IEP and its operator are not responsible for your compliance or non-compliance with applicable recording laws.
7. Limitation of liability
[PLACEHOLDER — to be drafted by attorney. This section will cap liability appropriately under applicable law.]
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SENTINEL·IEP and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is."
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SENTINEL·IEP and its operator from any claim, damage, or expense arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms, including but not limited to claims arising from recording-law violations.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you consent to the data practices described there.
10. Modifications
We may modify these Terms. Material changes will be communicated to account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
[PLACEHOLDER — to be specified by attorney based on the entity's state of formation. Typical choice for a US software company: state of Delaware or the founder's home state with courts in that jurisdiction.]
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
