Terms of Service

The agreement between you and SENTINEL·IEP.

DRAFT — PENDING ATTORNEY REVIEW. These Terms of Service are a working draft. Before public release of SENTINEL·IEP, a licensed attorney must review and finalize this document. The text below outlines the intended terms but is not the final operative agreement.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By installing, accessing, or using SENTINEL·IEP ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

SENTINEL·IEP is an informational software tool designed to help parents and advocates prepare for and participate in special education meetings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Service uses artificial intelligence to summarize documents, flag statements, and produce informational reports.

3. NOT LEGAL ADVICE

The Service does not provide legal advice. No output of the Service, no statement by SENTINEL·IEP or its operator, and no interaction with the software creates an attorney–client relationship between you and SENTINEL·IEP, its operator, or any affiliated person.

You acknowledge that special-education law is complex, varies by state, and requires the judgment of a licensed attorney. You agree to consult a licensed attorney before taking any action with legal consequences. See our full Disclaimer.

4. Your account and subscription

To use paid features of the Service, you must create an account with Sentinel Education Systems, LLC. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep it current. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Subscription terms vary by tier (Single Case, Family, Advocate, Firm) as described on the pricing page. You may cancel a subscription at any time; cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not:

Use the Service to violate any applicable law, including recording-consent laws in your state;
Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any individual, including district staff;
Distribute the Service's output as your own work product if you are a licensed professional;
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the Service's source code beyond what is permitted by law;
Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service without written permission.

6. Recording consent

The Service can capture audio of meetings. Recording-consent laws vary by state and you are SOLELY responsible for compliance with your state's laws. The Service requires you to acknowledge this responsibility before any audio capture begins. SENTINEL·IEP and its operator are not responsible for your compliance or non-compliance with applicable recording laws.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of Sentinel Education Systems, LLC arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Sentinel Education Systems, LLC in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), whichever is greater.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SENTINEL·IEP and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. The Service is provided "as is."

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SENTINEL·IEP and its operator from any claim, damage, or expense arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms, including but not limited to claims arising from recording-law violations.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you consent to the data practices described there.

10. Modifications

We may modify these Terms. Material changes will be communicated to account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Dakota, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Minnehaha County, South Dakota.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
